Jed Baloyo Raquintan was born on June 29, 1967 in Magallanes, Sorsogon. He is the third son of Leoncio and Norma Raquintan, both rural dentists. He received his primary education in his hometown and then moved to Legazpi City, where he enrolled at the Bicol University for his secondary education.
Jed was in second year college when his older brother, Roy, a young Christian, shared to him the Gospel. Having seen changes in the life of Roy–from a student activist to a Bible believer, he was convinced of the salvation message that his brother brought him. That same day, July 30, 1984, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. Three weeks later, he was baptized and became a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Legazpi City. In the next three years, Jed was actively involved in campus Bible studies and was the vice-president of the young people organization of the church until he graduated and went to Manila to work. After passing the CPA board examinations, Jed worked for Sycip, Gorres, Velayo, and Co. (SGV) for two years. During this time, he went church-hopping from one Bible Baptist church to another. But on October 1988, an officemate invited him to the Metro Manila Fundamental Bible Conference. And after having received blessings from the messages he heard, he decided to look for a church where he can serve God. His friend brought him to Cornerstone Baptist Church (CBC) in Quezon City where he eventually became a member in January 1989. Before Christmas of 1989, Jed left his job at SGV to follow God’s call to the full-time ministry. He became a missionary worker to Villasis, Pangasinan and Dasmariñas, Cavite while studying for the ministry at the Bob Jones Memorial Bible College (BJMBC). In June, 1993, he took over the pastorate of CBC from Rev. Roberto-Jose Livioco, who was led by the Lord to pastor another church. While pastoring CBC he earned both Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Arts in Biblical Studies at BJMBC in 1996 and 2005, respectively. A mission-minded leader, Pastor Jed has this past decade, directed the church into sending and supporting church planting workers in different parts of the country. From two mission outreaches in 1993, the church now has added seven mission works in Tanauan, Batangas; Pakil, Laguna; Legazpi City, Albay; Gumaca, Quezon; Concepcion, Tarlac; Sampalok, Tanay, Rizal; and Mabalacat, Pampanga. Pastor Jed is preparing CBC to send Filipino missionaries to Asia. In the meantime, he leads the church in supporting a Filipino missionary family to Viet Nam, a native tribal missionary to the uplands of Tinglayan, Kalinga, and another missionary family in Northern Samar. He is the founder-director and a teacher of Cornerstone Baptist Ministerial School (CBMS). Pastor Jed is married to the former Eden S. Rojas, with whom he has three children, Ruth Naomi, Hannah Lois, and Daniel Joseph. |
